The opposite of the manic pixie dream girl.

I will make you worse
Hey Jerry last I checked Im 28 how do I rectify this

I recognise this is a gross oversimplification but I counter that a key reason that like Maoism did well globally is it being relatively digestible to most people, while Trotskyism inherently gives people headaches

Which is like fine hes young but its not like Leinster doesnt have a other serviceable young lock (Deeny) or a v good young backrower who can cover lock at a pinch (Soroka)
December 6, 2025 at 7:45 PM
The hype around him has been baffling I havent really seen anything from him ever
December 6, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Ah yes I famously readjust my weight by reaching for a man's midriff
December 5, 2025 at 2:03 PM
As is Wessels. Murphy has been making this claim from the beginning though so its unlikely to be a new lie he consciously came up with
December 5, 2025 at 2:03 PM
How about that Murphys actions make more sense if he was grabbed in the groin? Because otherwise why would he go apeshit and punch a guy twice in direct view of the ref?
December 5, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Why is Murphys testimony being believed over Wessels political; you are the one making the claim, you have to explain it
December 5, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Then the panel uses their judgement as to which is more likely; Murphy loses his head in a random ruck, punches a guy twice, then lies about being groped,
OR
Wessels was a grub in a ruck, Murphy lashes out in response.

And they made a call, and one that I think makes more sense
December 5, 2025 at 1:45 PM
Not really; in a vacuum his arm placement is weird but neutral, but with the context of Murphy's allegation, it looks very different; both making sense, and being EXTREMELY malicious
December 5, 2025 at 1:39 PM
In a hypothetical trial or at the panel? Cos if we are talking panel, then yes we have that. If we are talking hypothetical trial, then no, we do not because more evidence would emerge over the course of weeks than a quick review in like 5 hours or whatever
December 5, 2025 at 1:07 PM
How is it political to believe testimony? Like what are you on about
December 5, 2025 at 1:06 PM
Apologies for having integrated Americanisms into my lexicon so effectively; the phrase "my man" is commonly used over there as like a general turn for "that guy". Murphy aint "my man" cos Im not a Connacht supporter; in fact I was broadly unaware of Murphy prior to this
December 5, 2025 at 1:04 PM
My man was saying he was grabbed while still on the damn pitch hes been consistent the entire time.

And sure you're entitled to interpret the events as you like, but to me it sure as fuck looks like JHW was sexually assualting Murphy
December 5, 2025 at 12:30 PM
Also I think the assumption that it was a political/conspiratorial decision is extreme: far more likely it was a deeply reactive decision to Murphy being adamant in his allegations. Kinda like an "Oh shit thats actually serious" moment
December 5, 2025 at 12:27 PM
As it would have multiple corroborating accounts against Wessels, and the innocent-until-proven-guilty principle would have helped Murphy out
December 5, 2025 at 12:26 PM
If we are really going down the court case comparison then we have to acknowledge that panel reviews are done in an extremely short amount of time; court cases take far longer. More time for evidence would have emerged, to which the reaction of the Connacht pack WOULD matter in both cases
December 5, 2025 at 12:24 PM
He got charged; thats what the panel is. They just ruled that there was sufficient aggravation to not punish further (and to rescind the punishment which again i think was wrong but whatever). Essentially he got acquitted
December 5, 2025 at 12:10 PM
And given how EVERYONE reacted to the red, I think its quite likely that players in the ruck saw what had happened and were able to verify
December 5, 2025 at 10:44 AM
I think the circumstances are different. Murphy was a heat of the moment response to something the panel viewed worthy of sanctioning Wessels heavily for, and so they were very clearly like "yeah that was not normal no need for extra punishment". Eben had time to cool off yet still committed to it
December 5, 2025 at 10:44 AM
Its hardly a discrepancy if its clear which people would rather get and the answer is "the one that wasnt punished as severely"
December 5, 2025 at 10:14 AM
I will preface I dont think murphys card shouldve been rescinded; i think they shouldve just been like yup you punched him thats a red but for reasons that are unique/rare and were in the moment, so no further punishment. Eben had time to cool off and instead came back with intent to blind a guy
December 5, 2025 at 10:13 AM
So like even if we use the courts framing that you brought up, eben is still getting a harsher punishment than murphy
