I recognise this is a gross oversimplification but I counter that a key reason that like Maoism did well globally is it being relatively digestible to most people, while Trotskyism inherently gives people headaches

Which is like fine hes young but its not like Leinster doesnt have a other serviceable young lock (Deeny) or a v good young backrower who can cover lock at a pinch (Soroka)

Not really; in a vacuum his arm placement is weird but neutral, but with the context of Murphy's allegation, it looks very different; both making sense, and being EXTREMELY malicious

In a hypothetical trial or at the panel? Cos if we are talking panel, then yes we have that. If we are talking hypothetical trial, then no, we do not because more evidence would emerge over the course of weeks than a quick review in like 5 hours or whatever

And sure you're entitled to interpret the events as you like, but to me it sure as fuck looks like JHW was sexually assualting Murphy

Also I think the assumption that it was a political/conspiratorial decision is extreme: far more likely it was a deeply reactive decision to Murphy being adamant in his allegations. Kinda like an "Oh shit thats actually serious" moment

As it would have multiple corroborating accounts against Wessels, and the innocent-until-proven-guilty principle would have helped Murphy out

If we are really going down the court case comparison then we have to acknowledge that panel reviews are done in an extremely short amount of time; court cases take far longer. More time for evidence would have emerged, to which the reaction of the Connacht pack WOULD matter in both cases

He got charged; thats what the panel is. They just ruled that there was sufficient aggravation to not punish further (and to rescind the punishment which again i think was wrong but whatever). Essentially he got acquitted

And given how EVERYONE reacted to the red, I think its quite likely that players in the ruck saw what had happened and were able to verify

I think the circumstances are different. Murphy was a heat of the moment response to something the panel viewed worthy of sanctioning Wessels heavily for, and so they were very clearly like "yeah that was not normal no need for extra punishment". Eben had time to cool off yet still committed to it

Its hardly a discrepancy if its clear which people would rather get and the answer is "the one that wasnt punished as severely"

I will preface I dont think murphys card shouldve been rescinded; i think they shouldve just been like yup you punched him thats a red but for reasons that are unique/rare and were in the moment, so no further punishment. Eben had time to cool off and instead came back with intent to blind a guy
