One day I will have a witty profile description, but it is not this day.
It‘s quite the opposite, the internet is full of good information, you can learn almost anything. You need to know to use this tool though. Some basic rules:
- use browser extensions/dns proxies to block ads and trackers
- write good search queries
- stay away from social media

Why is the argument always „but we can’t do that because people would lose their jobs“?

Take Indonesia for example. The textil industry is pumping poison into the rivers, not hiding this fact at all, and this stuff is poisoning the local population. A lot of kids get sick.

Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

Trying to find a good balance between „getting things done“ and „letting things go“ is hard in a society that wants productivity above all

Question to bloggers and essay writers: when you write something nonfiction, do you have a certain person in mind you write to, or do you imagine talking to a group? I find it hard to relax my writing style and words can sometimes sound to eager or too forced.

#amreading #booksky 💙📚

Spent what felt like an eternity #debugging an issue with cookies in an express js server. Turns out the max-age value in express is in milliseconds, not seconds like in the http spec for cookies. I’m sure the reason is developer convenience 🤪

I wish there was a tool that can open a #website as #book and save reading progress and sync that across devices.

I finished reading the collection of the first four of the Murderbot Diaries books by Martha Wells 📚🪐. This was a cool journey into the mind of a cynic robot with a lot of sci-fi action and mystery vibes. Then there is the Apple TV+ series adaptation which I’ll have to watch next

So is this the best way to get #DRM free #ebooks?

1) find the publisher of the ebook (e.g. through Amazon)
2) go to the publisher website
3) hope that they have an online shop and that you can buy DRM-free ebooks there
4) load the book onto device

I started to realize, my #Odin word processor project needs some serious project management. I keep coming back after longer stretches of inactivity to more complex code with more open todo items.

I finally found out how to fix the setup for #odin #vscode debugging using LLD. I added the -linker:lld flag in addition to -debug. Seems obvious in hindsight 🤦‍♂️
Now I can set breakpoints in VSCode and inspect the memory live. Much more convenient than printf debugging.

so I'm using my old #splitkeyboard again. It's a #Glove80 with a slightly customized keymap. For the last two years it was a very expensive dust collector. The muscle memory is not gone but typing still feels painfully slow.
The worst part is that two keys are somehow swapped on #mac...

Just finished #reading Contact by Carl Sagan. The #book was trying to be very scientifically accurate with many descriptions and little story telling, but for sci-fi lovers like me it’s still a great book to pick up. 📚🪐

A few days ago I finished reading The Gunslinger by Stephen King for my #bookclub.
The language was great, but the story was at times very confusing and the characters not very enjoyable. Without having read any other book of the series I’d give 3/5 at most. 💙📚🩸

Working on my wordprocessor program written in #odinlang and #sdl3

Added some debugging hotkeys for toggling borders around various containers.

I'm going to put all document data in a giant tree structure, including the container rects.
