Defining the ground on which we’re fighting is how Republicans “win” these arguments. It’s good strategy for Democrats to define it first.

The OP is flat-out wrong. Keeping it a high level of abstraction (“are illegal orders bad?”) is better than getting down into the much of specific actions, which the fascists would just turn into “why do you love crime so much?” attacks.

For the record, I think painting the U.S. economy as a nation of immiserated plebes supporting billionaires and the PMC class is wrong, but also that our levels of poverty, inequality, lack of social mobility, and miserly public investment are inexcusable in a nation as wealthy as this one is.
