CBS News as my go to for news starting in the 1950s. Then Norah O’Donnell took over the evening news and I realized then that CBS had chosen to normalize the decisions to benefit the rich and powerful over ordinary citizens. I stopped watching. Sad to see Margaret Brennan change as well.

Excellent essay. I hear you. From a fellow survivor.

Excellent article! Her work is so insightful while at the same time explaining the facts in a way that non lawyers can understand.

And it appears that no one pushed back. Tolerating this disrespectful behavior just encourages it to continue.

The Republicans will never negotiate healthcare in good faith. If you give ground on this critical issue, they will know you will cave on everything. Listen to the people who are being harmed, not the billionaires funding campaigns. Fight the good fight for the American people.

Nor should they be.

I thought you were one of the good guys that fought for your constituents. Yes this shutdown is painful and you want to keep your position, but caving on the ACA is a disgrace. You know the Republicans won’t consider the ACA extension in the future despite their promises. Fight the hard fight for us
November 10, 2025 at 1:37 AM
I hope not. This is a short term fix that will cause massive future issues for healthcare and other issues, as well as the loss of democratic negotiating power.
November 10, 2025 at 1:26 AM
Please don’t cave to the Republicans on healthcare. Their promise is worthless, as you know. Yes you might mitigate the shutdown pain in the short term, but you will cause much more pain and loss of negotiating power in the long term. Sadly I’m sure you will ignore our pleas. What a disappointment.

Please urge Democratic senators to vote no. I know the shutdown is painful, but trusting the Republicans on healthcare is a fools errand. We can’t cave now.

It’s excellent!

Excellent and thoughtful summary of where we are and how ordinary people can make a difference. We need more of this straight forward factual reporting that will help people better understand the issues and see where their actions can make a difference.

This is a disgrace. We need strong clear voices like yours.

Excellent.

When are the Democrats going to learn that the old guard approaches don’t work anymore. They have just gotten us to where we are today. It’s time for new ideas and a backbone.

Good, relevant interview. We need more people talking about this and hopefully getting through to our addled Congress.

How is this legal?

I’ll believe it when I see it.

PS. I liked your segment tonight where you answered the questions put by the press to the press secretary. More of this please.

Fascinating article.

Excellent article. I look forward to reading the rest. There are too many people in our country suffering from inertia when it comes to our freedoms. I’m hoping your articles can get through to them.
