Columnising on this topic this week, I think the underlying problem is at a fundamental level, Morgan believes that New Labour's biggest failings were it lifted too many children out of poverty and oversaw too many successful IPOs and start-ups.

As far as i can tell he not drunk the cool aid and gone radical right, he 'stayed' rational centre right. I think in some ways if he did stray it would kill the podcast, its his reasonableness that makes it bearable on topics he could clear over do it and annihilate people (e.g. me)

I've also seen many contradictory reports refuting this. I'm an Hon Prof now with minor role in a Uni (in science not humanities) but i think overall students are hard working and generally care about understanding stuff

The best degrees to get a job are engineering, but the general advice of doing something your are good at and enjoy is the best way to go. Maths, as you noted, is one of the best general degrees you can get with so many options open to you afterwards.

I only just had enough to live on as a student. I saved money from working over the summer to keep me going over rest of the year. I did buy records though ( I was pre CD at 20 😕).

Solid advice, also depends if you have a work pension and what type. Then that should affect your risk profile of your investments. Always for the long term send them into some kind of stocks. Just leave them and don't watch the ups and downs. You will win long term, I did.

Oh no, i remember that so well. RIP

Totally right, i taught my son this ( fortunately he has listened and even gone beyond me now) but he tells me so many of his friends have no idea about these things (he 22 ). Even girlfriend freaks out when stocks and shares are mentioned, even the most safest trackers
