Because that statement is VERY carefully crafted to leave the impression that Brooks just happened to find himself at an event that Epstein also just happened to be at, and that the two of them didn't interact at that event, but it doesn't actually say either of those things.

Three things I'd note about that statement.

First, the "2011" is included to indicate "a long time ago," but of course it also indicates "years after Epstein's conviction for trafficking girls."

Second, there's no reference to what the event was, or whose.

Third, "widely-attended dinner." LOL.

Brooks should be driven out of public life. The fact that he knew there were photographs of himself with Epstein and he didn't disclose that while also telling people that they should move on is just straight up unethical.
