Back to my original point, the organization is a non-profit. We should not expect the people working for it to not make money. We should expect the organization to pay its staff fairly and commensurate for the work they perform. We should expect all companies to pay their staff fairly.

I don’t know what, if any, fringe benefits she is getting. I’m guessing that this is a major logistical operation with lots of timing and access obstacles. Non-profits often pay below market averages but they don’t need to pay way below market. Compare to other organizations of similar revenue/size.

Excellent question, and in general I agree that CEO compensation is completely out of control.
If she is making the average US CEO pay of of 290-1, that would put her average employee at an annual salary of less than $3500; so on a ratio basis she is probably rather underpaid.

A million bucks out of $3.5 billion in revenues is about 0.03%. I know it’s hard to imagine that non-profits should compensate their staff well, but they should pay their people market rate for doing the work that needs to be done. The organization is non-profit; workers generally aren’t.
