So, essentially you're saying that the only thing that has saved the American healthcare system from political corruption is corporate greed....

The fall of the American empire is long overdue...
December 11, 2025 at 12:51 AM
Are there flaws in our healthcare system? Of course there are. Healthcare is complex, and unpredictable. It would be weird if there weren't flaws...

But there's a reason why every top nation on earth has it. The benefits outweigh the costs by a mile... even purely from an economic sense.

The result will be a further limiting of the people who can access those hospitals' services, a reduction in the quality of those resources, or a loss of the high end talent that will attract the top paying consumers.

Either way, the loser here becomes the hospitals that don"t opt in.
December 11, 2025 at 12:36 AM
The overarching flaw in your theory is that hospitals won't opt in because it will hurt their bottom line...

Somehow, I think losing 90+% of your consumer base by not opting in is probably going to hurt their bottom line a bit. Either those hospitals will have to raise prices or cut costs...

As a Canadian, I can tell you your entire premise is ill-conceived.

Our tax structure is not 8-12 percentage points higher. In fact, the lowest tax brackets actually pay LESS in federal taxes than Americans.

Our Doctors and Nurses are well compensated, despite your insinuation....

Why is this written like it's a different Joey Gallo? lol
December 11, 2025 at 12:25 AM
Yeah, but Dylan Cease!

I wouldn't buy that comp either... but with the way contracts are changing. Teams are paying for what you're going to do as opposed to what you have done more and more.

There's an argument to be made there if you're an agent. Especially given how thin the catcher market always is.
December 10, 2025 at 7:07 PM
I agree. Adley's camp is going to give the comp on Cal Raleigh too. It's right there... switch hitting catcher with power from both sides.

On the other hand, I won't mind Adley leaving the AL East. As inconsistent as he's been... He consistently crushes the Jays
December 10, 2025 at 7:01 PM
Until they trade Adley for a front line starter.
December 10, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Not to mention the fact that the Dodgers didn't really even overpay.

Either way you could argue the Mets could afford to beat any offer, but the quibbling over whether or not they should overpay isn't even a consideration here... Maybe David Stearns really believes in Devin Williams?
December 10, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Yeah! I was more referring to the take you were mentioning than yours.

I don't think Alonso is as confounding as Diaz. Aside from him being a fan favourite... There is easily a way they can replace Pete and make their team better overall... especially given the unlimited resources they have.
December 10, 2025 at 6:50 PM
There is a very real world where they add Kyle Tucker or Cody Bellinger, and use Soto and Vientos as a 1B/DH tandem.

Not sure how they replace Diaz, but that move makes their lineup and defense better than last year.
December 10, 2025 at 6:45 PM
This take is going to look dumb when they sign Kyle Tucker and use Soto and Vientos as a 1B/DH tandem.
December 10, 2025 at 6:43 PM
I actually think we'd see a lot more action in December if they made the Winter Meetings two weeks instead of just one. I feel like there's probably a lot of momentum generated in that first week that fades when everyone leaves... probably to go on holiday.
December 10, 2025 at 6:02 PM
The amount of people who can't see past their own anecdotal experiences is astounding...

"Harvey never sexually harassed me... Clearly what he did wasn't that bad."

You're Judy Dench... Do you really think hugely famous and powerful women were his ideal target?? Grow a brain.
December 10, 2025 at 5:01 PM
To add to that, there are also a litany of minor league rosters to sort out. All of that has to be done in a very short offseason, compared to the NFL offseason.

Do you not think teams would like to get their rosters sorted out as quickly as possible? Of course they do.
December 10, 2025 at 4:46 PM
NFL free agency starts 2 full months after the Super Bowl. Double the time for teams and agents to negotiate and bid against each other.

Typically that time between the end of the season to the start of free agency is the time where teams in all sports sort out coaching and staff changes too.
December 10, 2025 at 4:40 PM
a power hitting 3rd baseman who profiles more as a 1st baseman? I think we just locked one of those up for 14 years...
November 10, 2025 at 3:51 PM
It’s also not true on either side… If the right really “didn’t care” about Trans people… they would shut the fuck about them…
November 9, 2025 at 8:43 PM
He doesn't mind being seen as "the villain". Since he retired from being a baseball exec, he's kind of been on that path where he doesn't care how people feel about him.

I actually kind of liked Sampson until I saw that doc. He came off totally unlikeable outside of a few moments.

I don't think people are shocked that Bieber signed with the Jays. People are shocked that he used his $16M player option to do it. He could've declined that option, and the Blue Jays would've happily paid more for him to return, as they've shown the willingness to spend consistently.
November 6, 2025 at 5:04 AM
The NHL getting rid of the “puck first” rule continues to suck.
November 6, 2025 at 2:09 AM
I don't think this is as unexpected as people believe. I know everyone assumes a player is going to cash in as soon as he gets a chance.

In Bieber's case, as good as he is, coming off injury, one season at full health on a good team. It puts him in a great spot to make Max Fried money in 2027.
