Interested in Australian political posts, detest Regressives. Survivor but politicised , traumatised by Pentagon Papers, Watergate, Vietnam War, Kerr’s Coup. Failed to mellow with age. Let out on special occasions. Forever topping up the optimism moat.
Thanks - Great summary of the Howard quotes, time line and changing focus. Howard would disgust even more people than usual by trying to play politics in the middle of the Bondi horror. He joined Sussan Ley and Netanyahu seeking some political advantage. Great bedfellows, the three of hem.

WE aren’t listening, but MSM is happy to consider him newsworthy and promote his wackery. By some weird thinking, Conservative interests still think he helps their cause! Our largest voting cohort, under 35 yrs, say John Who? Oh, he’s an old faded pale male. Not relevant to my world. Good!

Genuinely interested - how does CCS failure work perfectly for Chevron?
December 16, 2025 at 10:55 PM
LNP/Frydenberg’s last budget forecasted TEN years of major deficits. His stated heroes/economic pin-ups were Reagan & Thatcher. Both administered rising deficits.
Deficits/debt as THE indicator of good govt is an LNP, conservative notion. For decades, Surplus’s are extremely rare in OECD countries.

Thanks. Rare to see MSM analysis of the Gorgon CCS project’s continuing failure. CCS “is a story of disappointment-hard to believe claims they can hit their climate targets using CCS. I don’t buy it-the cost is still very high-the technology is not there.” Fatih Birol, IEA Director - AFR 10/5/24.
December 16, 2025 at 2:20 PM
If one studies the Gorgon case, world largest operational CCS plant, one understands a lot about CCS.”
Minor amendment? Shouldn’t that read? … One understands a lot about THE FAILURE OF CCS.

Damage from Howard’s three privatised industries - aged care, child care, employment services is taboo for MSM. The first two are total cot cases, many hundreds of billions of taxpayer money shovelled out over decades. Safety & Quality of service random, low wages addressed by Govt/taxpayer paying!!

Great response, thanks for the chuckle.

“Australians are stupid”? How many give Howard credibilty?
“All generalisations are false, including this one.” - Mark Twain
Our biggest voting cohort, Under 40, would be largely ignorant of Howard, let alone give him credibility.
Bennelong voters were not stupid voting Howard out of his own seat.
December 16, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Respectfully disagree Howard would be respected more if he spoke less. Respect was lost forever, with children overboard, sanctioning armed thugs/alsatians to break the waterfront dispute, lying about weapons of mass destruction/Iraq War, Workchoices, privatising aged care/childcare- both cot cases.

No public servant or politician was charged, found guilty or subjected to heavy fines and/or loss of career due to their direct involvement in Robodebt.
Senior public servants and departmental secretaries have a comfortable zone to operate Robodebt-like processes now - hey, no repercussions!
December 16, 2025 at 12:57 PM
Soul destroying that a Federal Court judge labelled Robodebt the worst case of public administration EVER, & the NACC/Commissioner Brereton concluded ‘nothing wrong going on here.’ The Robodebt RC defined at least three innocent people lost their lives due to LNP policy. MSM? Passive, then and now.

Thanks for all of those uplifting human references and kindnesses. Amy Remeikis just keeps on shining as a marvellous human being whose writing sparkles, has feeling and challenges the rhetoric they expect us to accept.

“Drag Howard out of the embalming room”. Funny but a bit harsh, as this photo proves.
December 16, 2025 at 12:13 PM
True! Who can forget that in 2019/20 devastating, extraordinary bushfires, Berejiklian & Morrison said now is not the time to talk about climate change. No journalist asked them when IS the time? (Checks notes) They never found the time. Sadly, many think - guns hurt people now but climate change?
December 16, 2025 at 9:09 AM
Howard was always a small minded man seeking stature. Workchoices? His tragic example of what he sought to achieve when he had power. Can’t help thinking his pathetic ego is in play here - he doesn’t want anyone else being credited with gun reforms. For our under 40’s: John Who? He is irrelevant.

Love Golding’s cartoon shows if you reach ‘2 to 5’ on the Trump Sycophantic wall measure, you will not fit through the US entry door.

Gee, so far, no-one, including fair dinkum aussies, has liked your stab at a fair dinkum post. Why would that be?

Was adding a ‘y’ difficult? Really? … Petty. Guess you never, ever make a typo.

“A race to claim the narrative”
Nicely put. Would that narrative be anti semitic, terrorism, fear of foreigners, anxiety, political advantage - thanks Susssan & Netanyahu for comments?

Create the discussion frame, control the words, control the argument. An old trick but Jehaysus, it still works.
December 16, 2025 at 1:25 AM
Let’s note that voters with hate have failed miserably for the last two national elections. Re: the power of right wing media to generate hate, the Under 40’s, our largest voting cohort, don’t buy it, read it or watch it. For this, & disintegrating the MSM business model, we all owe them a favour.

Crisafulli’s govt have announced they will shovel $3.6 BILLION taxpayer dollars over the next five years to help resuscitate dying coal fired power stations past their use by date. The QLD Treasurer on ABC radio 16/12/25 focussed the LNP’s rising budget deficit on a public servants wage increase!
