Pressingly, we don't want to get the message wrong or risk possibly endangering someone who was unprepared for attention. We refuse to imitate people who lack lived experience but make decisions on our behalf without consulting us.

While we advocate for all community members, we do not speak on behalf of specific communities without their consent. *Except in emergency situations. Because advocacy demands active participation. And silence does not equal permission.

People with HIV are living longer than ever. But the current system has not been adapted to address this possibility ― or to serve us as we step into the next face of life. This panel of community leaders, advocates, and legal scholars are stepping forward to help heal this gap.

5. People with criminal records are exposed to one or more of nearly 44,000 collateral consequences that limit every aspect of their lives.
6. Specifically the services they can access while aging.

This is a huge issue because:
1. Over 79 million people in the US have criminal records.
2. That's 1 in 4 people.
3. People with marginalized identities face over policing, hyper prosecution, and harsher penalties.
4. Meaning people living with HIV likely face higher rates of criminalization.
