So I got this idea... hear me out. A MMORPG, except there's no internet, it's split-screen multiplayer. You can use your phone or smart device wired up to the console/PC as a screen.

Yeah, it doesn’t have to be a roguelite, it just needs to have that frantic whacky feeling, short bursts of fun, lots of turns and ramps and so on. I don’t want them to turn it into a Forza Horizon just because the hardware allows it and they can.
November 23, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Yeah exactly. It has to feel like a coin-op arcade game or it’s not Crazy Taxi anymore. There’s too many clips of modern open-world racing games where I see players/streamers mostly just driving straight for miles on end in a very passive manner. They replaced arcade games with cosy games.

Yeah it needs to stick to its pop punk roots. And I really despise open worlds. I mean there's a place for it, but too many AAA devs shoehorn it into every franchise. It's great for epic adventure RPG's, but keep it away from racing games! I know Crazy Taxi requires a sandbox, just keep it small!

Every Nintendo IP that underperformed on the Gamecube could have been given a second chance on the Switch. I the Switch 2 sales carry on the way they are, maybe there's still time for some of those IPs Nintendo has been ignoring assuming they won't sell.

Love that one! I'd also like to see The Kids Aren't Alright. I know it wasn't in the original Crazy Taxi, but it feels really relevant now, with the series coming back after 2 decades, to a political climate that's up in flames.

Speaking of Kenji Sasaki by the way.

No Sega Rally? One of the lead designers who worked on the original Ridge Racer left Namco and joined Sega and became instrumental in developing the Sega Rally games.

Yeah agreed, the Switch version is probably the best way to play it outside of a real arcade cabinet.

In a future where self-driving cars take over taxi and Uber driver jobs, the redundant employees will all get together to play Crazy Taxi. I can see it.

Funny how cel-shaded games from the 6th gen consoles are looked back on so fondly, when at the time these were overlooked for more 'realistic' and grungy aesthetics, which have aged poorly by comparison. While Auto Modelista, Zelda the Wind Waker, and Okami in particular have all aged like fine wine

Re-vinyl as long as you can replicate the print and finish.

Retro gaming and indie games are the future, for as long as the AAA industry is financially attractive enough for the corporate suits and their shareholders to cling to an artform they otherwise have no interest in.

Having enjoyed plenty of 4 player gaming on the N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Xbox, it was tough to move on to the 7th gen consoles. I still remember browsing games in a game store and my disbelief when I saw the ’Number of players: 1 (online: 2-8)’ on the back of Burnout Paradise… a RACING GAME!

Luigi's Mansion, with the lights out, room lit only by the dim glow eminating from the CRT TV... and experiencing those Nintendo Gamecube 🎮 L+R triggers through the Poltergust 3000. If you know, you know. This game was criminally overlooked in its time because everyone wanted Mario 128 🙄

It's mentioned quite frequently, like almost daily, in the Arcade Racers feed I put up a while back:
