Yes, but there's a patent, meaning there's something new never done before in breeding and thus having no "history of safe use"...
I know it's absurd, but it is exactly what happened to my breeding method (old but different and with a patent).

Hm, il y a déjà eu des accidents en sélection classique: Concombres et courgettes hautement toxiques.
A mon avis la sélection classique est bien plus dangereuse que l'amélioration par des techniques modernes (édition du génome).
