That’s great to know. I never shop there much because it was far from my old house but it’s much closer to our new house

YES

I agree that information is power but also folks are litigious. So hard to know. I appreciated at our tasting our wedding caterer first gave us a tour of their facility and showed us how they handle allergens. We picked them bc of their care with gluten. Was nice to see in person

Could be a different manufacturing facility
November 16, 2025 at 8:34 PM
Usually the brine but can also be cross contamination in a facility that also makes things like meatballs or sausage
November 16, 2025 at 8:26 PM
I wish there were more dedicated facilities for things that often fall victim to cross contamination capitalism sucks

None of the butterballs I saw today were labeled gluten free. Google says they are but the turkeys themselves do not. Not worth the risk in my house.

Atmospheric scientist here. Usually when this happens it’s from wind blowing rain from a different location

Alas I do not 😂

IME those ones tend to be more likely to be labeled gluten free but not always :(
November 16, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Yup it’s a cross contamination issue
November 16, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Yup. It sucks with so many allergens. Like I was just looking at PLAIN walnuts in my pantry. Claims manufacture on shared equipment with other tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, milk, and sesame

Apparently I talk about gluten free cooking every thanksgiving. Here’s a thread about making stuffing that doesn’t suck bsky.app/profile/plan...
The trick to making good gluten free stuffing is (1) make your own bread cubes (2) dry them within an inch of their lives. I toast them first and then cook them in the oven on low for hours and hours.

No it’s to do with how it’s processed/handled in the plant
November 16, 2025 at 5:48 PM
That’s amazing. Last thanksgiving my mom wanted a pecan pie. I checked every grocery store i reasonably could in Baltimore including like mom and pop places and couldn’t find any :(
November 16, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Sometimes I do feel like people just throw flour all over everything just to be dicks to celiacs. The number of times I’ve screamed (in my head) why is there gluten in this in the grocery store…
November 16, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Gravies, brines, seasoning. But also some facilities also make sausage or meatballs and so concern is cross contamination not intentional gluten. According to google most of the major brands don’t add gluten but they aren’t necessarily safe bc of cross contamination (they don’t claim gluten free)
November 16, 2025 at 5:25 PM
While we are at it, the other thing that might sneak attack you while cooking for thanksgiving are nuts. If you wanna make a pecan pie you need to order gluten free pecans now. I’ve never been able to find any in a grocery store.

I truly do not understand where the entitlement comes from. You have your very own platform where you can say whatever you want! Also they could just follow you lmao

I saw you mention it the other day and almost did it then. Thank you for the inspiration
