This part really grabbed my attention. It's incredible (and I think correct, though I'd like to see a detailed budget) that operating costs alone are so expensive. We need to grapple with this. In a YIMBY utopia, private landlords at the low end of the market will feel this same pressure...

We need to ramp up automated traffic enforcement. Red light and speeding cameras. A person hit by a car going 40mph will very likely die, and at 20mph they’ll almost certainly live.

60k * $35 per ticket = $2m over 4 months. Times 3. Times 170 cameras = $1b. There you go, we can close Chicago's budget deficit and make the roads safer.
