I'm gonna take a wild guess, having done no research, but I don't think illegal immigrants, making less than minimum wage under the table are able to afford $500k+ homes and are actually having a very negotiable impact on affordable housing availability

It's a performative dog-whistle. The point is to make it more difficult to change the law in the future. Something that red states like to do now. Texas also isn't unique in this. There's 15 other states that already have amendments to their state constitutions and 2 or 3 more voting on it next year

But Dems can use it as a lightning rod to further their case and the ineptitude of Rs when it comes to healthcare. Dems need to be loud and keep receipts. Rs aren't going to lose seats until their constituents are forced to live with their choices. Fafo. Fight enough to be absolved of blame

It doesn't matter though. The people that need to hear this aren't listening and more likely won't ever even hear it because their biased, echo chamber news outlet won't air it. They'll never find fault in their party and thus won't vote against them
