Maybe the console they own puts up an invisible wall that blocks them from walking 7 meters to the store that sells lesser-known indie games.

(Console makers have final authority to deny a port from PC, and I've read smaller studios get denied more often.)

One way consumers create this issue is by buying a PlayStation instead of a living room PC, or buying a Nintendo Switch instead of a handheld PC. This means they can't buy indie games whose devs don't yet have enough of a portfolio to qualify for a console devkit.

One thing's certain: Any chat with human beings is less bad than the cat fart 🐈️💨️ that is ChatGPT and every other predictive BS generator masquerading as "artificial intelligence." 5/5

Matt Cengia agreed in 2023: Discord has most of the same problems as Slack, the sole permitted client has flashy distrations, searching history is difficult, and exporting history is infeasible. Describes pros and cons of several alternatives. 4/5

Dave Cheney went further in 2017: Please stop using chat in general for open-source communities. Even a free protocol like IRC, XMPP, or Matrix disadvantages people with a full-time job and people in less-privileged time zones. Use forums instead. 3/5

Drew DeVault wrote in 2015 to the effect: Please stop using Slack for open-source communities. It's non-free, bloated software, and joining just to read can be a hassle. Use IRC instead and provide a bouncer, pastebin, and file drop to your members. 2/5

Ideally, society would get rid of gender stereotypes. However, in practice, eroding stereotypes takes generations. Cultural change is like science in that it progresses one funeral at a time, to paraphrase Max Planck's autobiography.

As an approximation, one could define "femininity" as expression traits for which parents and teachers punish boys under 10 on grounds that they are reserved for girls. Then a "woman" is an adult human being who strives over the long term to be perceived by others as predominantly feminine.

Wikipedia has an article about "Standards of Care" published by WPATH. This clinical protocol, now in its eighth edition, reflects consensus among medical professionals about how to treat gender dysphoria.

The cat did its job: the mice are under control and not making a mess of the house. It reminds me of BillSpooks's character Sunny the Scarecrow, who protects the field not by repelling crows but by attracting them to her post.

My OC Sunny the Scarecrow! She tries her best to scare away all the crows that flock to her farm, but the trouble is she's just too gosh darn cute!

For comparison, Capcom couldn't convince Disney to let them keep DuckTales Remastered on the store.
