Like imagine me and my fiancé show up, my aunt asks when our wedding is, we tell her, and she says, “wow that’s a long time away! There’s still time to break up” and that’s literally the first interaction anybody has at the family function.

Here's the original photo I took with my camera back in 2020. I love exploring the world and imagining how my characters would interact with it. It's so much fun to blend two mediums together.

There were also a lot of opportunities in university that happened because I left a good impression on my professors and (most of) my classmates. Seriously, I found that the connections I made were more valuable than my actual coursework.

2. Don't underestimate networking and connecting with others. I would not have this job if it wasn't for my coworker at that shitty start up.

You won't love your job every day, but you should at least be content there and willing to see through the bad parts to experience the good parts.

My two biggest takeaways from this are:

1. Don't make any big life decision or commitment because it's something that someone else expects of you. Your job is your livelihood and takes up a majority of your time, so you should at least do something you enjoy.

Life has taken me to some very interesting places. I've always tried to keep an open mindset and my life motto is "Everything has a way of working out in the end." It hasn't failed me yet, though I have had some moments where I had to wait a long time for things to fall into place. Patience helps

On top of that, the owner of this business has gotten some connections with Hollywood, so now I get to help direct some projects that involve working with some well known celebrities. It's been super surreal having this experience because when I first started, I was skeptical of this job.

I started out as a part time video editor. Then Covid hit and I was a bit worried I wouldn't have my job for long. But luckily, this business thrived in an online space, so my role grew exponentially. Now I'm the creative director for this company.

I was only there for 10 weeks and quit because it was so awful. I had no plan, barely any money saved, and tried doing some freelancing work to make ends meet. Despite that being the worst job ever, I made some connections there, one being someone who referred me to my current job.

Left that job to move to Chicago because my partner and I wanted to do something a bit bigger than ourselves and a big city seemed to be a good place to establish ourselves as creatives. I got a job at a start up company doing video and photo work and it was the worst job I ever had.

At school, I discovered I actually enjoyed doing photo and video work, so that became my focus track in my program. I graduated, got a job at an art framing company and eventually convinced them to create a job for me where I make videos to help market them.

I hated all my ID classes, so I decided to drop out and take a semester to figure something out. I ended up transferring to a different school and majored in digital art, because it was familiar to me and I liked it. I figured I could try and make a job out of it somehow.
