Ask your instructor to randomly, and at ANY time, present an emergency. Don’t make it an ‘exercise’. That way when you are focused on, say, Nav and relatively relaxed - oops - a failure. You can do it to yourself too. At critical points, say to yourself - engine failure! Or Fire! What/Why/Where?

All of them because they were all ‘new’ items to me, and that’s all I’m saying because I swear I’m still 35!

Saw that the other day (CYZR, right?) Glad she is ok. The more familiar the incident, the more we look into ourselves. It’s good to review checklists but an equal part, perhaps larger part, is knowing how one responds under pressure.

That happens sometimes when both are on the same wifi…🤷🏻‍♂️ To separate ours (brother in law has one in his room, didn’t want him interfering with ours) I had to put him on a guest network with separate login.

I flew turbine Otters for a while…has to be my fav to fly, they’re great, it’s only just above the Beaver.
And absolutely, when you can, get a float rating. I’d suggest not just anywhere but do it in a ‘bush’ region too. Make it an adventure. 😉

Now you’re talking👍🏻
How’d ya like the float flying? It’s flying but totally different. I like saying once you go floats, you won’t want to go back to wheels…unless they are amphib.

That’s why it kinda looked familiar 👍🏻 I’ve seen Seattle too but didn’t recognize it, I’ll have to watch again.

Nice. What area is that? Looks somewhat familiar but then 🤷🏻‍♂️
December 4, 2025 at 10:39 PM
What ever works for you 😉 I was just curious.
At least you’ll never have to remove/install wing/engine covers, pre heat, start with thick oil and fly and work in -35 👍🏻

Sorry but ‘when season starts…’?
Flying is a great year-round adventure. It’s just different planning, scenery and more learning/experience 😉 Or did I misunderstand your meaning 🤷🏻‍♂️

Gotta add…watching an A380 taxi is to watch humans manoeuvre a building 😳

It is nice place for that, away from busy YOW. Smithfalls is nice too.

I haven’t flown Carp in about 35/40 yrs, I also remember Bradley Air operating DC3s out of there. It’s changed a lot since then.
Enjoy the sunny flying. 👍🏻

Had the privilege of seeing that shoreline a few times 👍🏻

There is a movie out there about this incident.
Free Fall: Flight174
(Free on Tubi)

Sorry to hear that.
That brings back memories. Watched that show as a kid. For anyone interested it’s available, for free, on Tubi. Old footage but beautiful scenery.

About time 👍🏻 Caution: you won’t want to to back to wheels…unless skis are attached so you can still go to the lakes 😉
Enjoy, have fun

100% agree!
I had pleasure of flying 2 seasons, on floats, on the NP. Breath taking scenery.
Hint to others: Bucket List item 😉

I should have said he ‘has’ been Capt checked, not ‘was’ which inplies he got it at hiring.
September 3, 2025 at 12:16 AM
It’s rare but my FO got hired with a fresh commercial/IFR, C182 time and less than 700 total…onto a CJ3 …he was Capt checked and has about 1500 now…anything is possible 😉
