For example for double 2 would do both ways. And not really, you can mitigate risk effectively but I wouldn’t use it if there were issues around bullying or domestic violence but then there are other things to sort!

You are right about ethics of the experiment it’s hard to do, Cath and I wrote this some time ago www.teachingtimes.com/can-robots-e... (I was Dove!)
Can Robots End Isolation and Disruption for Unwell Students? - TeachingTimes
A small robot is making a big difference for children who are too unwell to attend school. Sarah Dove and Cath Kitchen show how AV1 allows these young people to access education while undergoing long-...

Teams and Google have their place too! What I like about AV1 is that the child can go out with their friends to play, so has that element of friendship. I’m surprised about the study - it would be great to read it if you have any info?

It’s from NoIsolation, the unit costs a certain amount and then there are ongoing costs relating to maintenance.
A face to face teacher costs about £60/hour. Used it in psychiatric units when a child might not dress so a child couldn’t have a teacher. Obviously sharp end but this made huge impact

I think, like everything, it’s having another thing that could work. Part of your toolkit. It certainly won’t be helpful in all cases all of the time, but my experience is that it has a great place for some children.

It doesn’t give the relationship with their peers? The tech has improved over a number of years but don’t be sorry! If it’s not worked from your perspective

It can be very supportive for children with EBSA as well but do agree with thoroughly exploration of those push and pull factors and addressing them

I see the AV1 as a transitional tool, not the answer

When kids are neutropenic from cancer treatment it can make the difference between them chatting and talking to their friends
There is evidence it gets kids back in school then staying out.

Hiya Joel - happy to chat through this and the difference in can make for children with illness and returning to school. Understand your reticence but a lot of ways of ensuring safety. There are times I don’t recommend its use!

It was so lovely to meet you the other day! And yes, I love AP! But really want all children to thrive beyond the margins
