Proportionally Scots have more MPs at Westminster than English people do. Not to mention their own Parliament, unlike England.
April 22, 2025 at 1:08 PM
They share the same religion, language, and culture.
April 21, 2025 at 6:13 PM
I am Scottish.
April 21, 2025 at 6:12 PM
So you’re saying… Scots have more MPs per head than English folk do?
April 21, 2025 at 6:10 PM
The figures aren’t daft, they’re real.

What about the SNP having such a high public spending budget despite: children’s literacy rates being down, homelessness up, drug deaths up, disease, emissions, less police, les schools, A&E wait times, train timetable cuts etc.

That’s a waste of money too.
April 21, 2025 at 6:07 PM
I refer you to my previous tweet. Scotland gets more per head from Westminster than English people do.
April 21, 2025 at 5:51 PM
So you’re voting for a harder life?

God you can’t be saved can you. Bless your soul.
April 21, 2025 at 5:50 PM
I don’t vote for any of those parties, and I wouldn’t, as they are anti EU.

But remind me, how many seats did Labour win from the SNP?

Also yes it does have its own legal system. Within the UK, might I add. But I’ll let you off.

So I ask again, beyond legalities what justifies independence?
April 21, 2025 at 5:49 PM
The McCrone Report is 50 years old. Scotland gets £2.5k more per head from the UK than England. 60% of our exports go to England. Independence risks everything Scots benefit from now— but your non-expert murky funded news sources (very funny from you there) won't tell you that.
April 21, 2025 at 5:32 PM
Norway saved its oil money. Scotland’s was spent—on Scots—via UK funding, where we get ~£2.5k more per head than England.

Tearing that up is nothing less than economic self-harm.
April 21, 2025 at 5:29 PM
That is 50 years old.
April 21, 2025 at 5:17 PM
You don’t know my background, and you’d be embarrassed if you did.

I’m aware of the acts of union. I made it past primary school…

But I’m asking you beyond legalities, WHAT makes Scotland a nation, that doesn’t make London a nation? A different religion? A different language? A different culture?
April 21, 2025 at 5:14 PM
You’re missing the point.

Again, London voted remain…

Scotland trades more with England than it does with the EU.

Why are you anti Brexit and pro independence? Next you’ll say you’re a fox in favour of shooting 😂
April 21, 2025 at 5:11 PM
At least you’re more honest than this lot!
April 21, 2025 at 5:05 PM
So was London. No need to swear, btw, we are having an adult debate.

Also, what I said above stands. It’s the same rhetoric used by Brexiteers. It’s inarguable.

Again, what justifies Scotland as a nation and not London?
April 21, 2025 at 5:04 PM
I acknowledge that it is a nation.

I don’t acknowledge that independence is good for its people

Those countries also traded far less with the UK because they don’t have a land border.

It’s not a like for like
April 21, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Replace England with EU nations and this is straight out of Farage’s playbook🤣

The answer to the above (if the purpose is prosperity for us Scots) isn’t independence. It’s stronger policy on ensuring bad things don’t happen.

The baddest thing for Scotland’s prosperity, tho, would be independence.
April 21, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Are you?
April 21, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Also, Mark *Carney, wrote that over ten years ago.

He also talked about the grave risk of independence.

P.S Scottish->English trade = 68% of its exports (ONS)
English->Scottish trade = 5% of its exports.

How you can’t see leaving will hurt Scotland more is beyond any good economist 🤣
April 21, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Out of interest, do France, Spain, Germany etc share a common language, or have near identical cultures? No, they don’t.

They are members of the EU though.

We need to rejoin together, otherwise it will hurt Scotland really badly
April 21, 2025 at 4:29 PM
I’m not saying we shouldn’t have a right to, but that it would be catastrophic.

Also, times are really hard. Ordinary working families are worried about heating and eating - rejoining is not at the top of their minds when voting.
April 21, 2025 at 4:26 PM
It’s not my opinion. It’s fact. Don’t deny Scottish families prosperity.
April 21, 2025 at 4:23 PM
What justifies its nationhood at the expense of borders and economic ruin?
