There are alternatives to the editing solutions but would require learning your workflows through new software and I think folks just don’t have the time or patience to put towards it like they did with Windows. Gaming anticheat looks like it would require Linux to have a higher market share.

I do not agree. I believe Linux has the same flexibility and scope to fill in anywhere Windows does. Your take usually comes from 1) multiplayer games that do not allow their anticheat solutions to run in Linux or 2) you’ve gotten hooked on an editing solution that is locked to Windows.

Just about everything runs. You’ll start running into issues when you get to competitive online play requiring anti-cheat. A good point of reference is protondb.com

I’ve been a Solus supporter for years. It’s a distro aimed specifically at desktop users. It’s a unique distro since it’s not based on anything. Uses all the same desktops as other distros. I was able to get most things gaming to run without issue using the bottles flatpak and Steam w/proton.
