I’m not too far in, but my biggest complaint is that the psychic stuff is…so lazy
A. Why is she psychic? It’s science fiction. Just make it tech—the powers could still work the same
B. Couldn’t they have given the power-ups a better name? “Psychic boots” etc. is SO lazy. Really takes me out of it

My god, I feel the exact same way. Work gives me zero breaks. Family won’t budge on traditions that we’ve kept for 30 years, as though nothing has changed. Shopping/gifting sucks, because it’s all crap we bought online. Then I spend the next week sick from being around people. Hate it!
