The toilets at the Cartwright though are magnificent

Ah, tragic. I have fond memories of film in Oxford, there and the PPP. A quid a film, so an occasional triple bill if I had a slack day and the programme looked good!

Ooops - "Times readers"!

I lived in Oxford when I was at uni and recall a conversation with a planning student about the fears of "precedent" the shark caused. It was kind of ironic then, but then the madness of today's Telegraph readers was still a long way into a more hopeful-looking future...

Downside: There is no plan and no courage. No attempt to sort the tax system. No strategy for the economy, like the one @johnspringford.bsky.social suggests here getting-out-of-the-hole.uk. Even good policies, like mansion tax, simply fiddle for pennies instead of properly reforming property tax.

I hardly dare ask re your personal tragedy but the magic saddle layer does sound good. Presumably enables all sorts of saddle height/position fettling along with saddle choice?

Oooo - so that's basically the saddle equivalent of the plate podiatrists get you walking over; does it interface between rider & chosen saddle, or is it a saddle which maps body pressure, pointing to likely best shape of saddle?

Most of those people are either deluded or weren't alive fifty years ago. I was in my teens then and can confirm things very definitely weren't better. For those of my age who are tempted by faux nostalgia - have you really forgotten your agency in making your present what you want it to be?

“They could try not being paranoid and just try being better" pretty much sums up the problem - whoever that one un-named quoted MP was, they spoke for many of us...
