I don't know what to do, my HS bestie... She's terminal, in hospice... She's only 50 years old. I feel really sad for her family, her kids... her and I share many friends.. one of them let me know. I can't really inject myself. I won't be intruding in her peace.

photo: Pheenix Wonder, 2025 The pond is a bit overgrown with the tall pink phlox, now mostly seeding, around the sides, and the lotus leaves on the water. You can see two lotus blooms, one Peachy Orange and one Pink. There are lots of Water Lettuce, Water Hyacinth, as well as Giant Duck Weed and Red Velvet. Photo: Pheenix Wonder 2025 Miss Dove, a Lavender Orpington Light grey, almost lavender coloring evenly over all. Extra wide fluffy butt! Sweet disposition, she is a lovely girl! Soft and gentle. Her little cheek feathers are iridescent with greens and blues. Her bestie, a Barr Rock, hen named Ying-yang, passed away at 9 years old a week or so back. Sadly. So miss dove is getting extra pets daily, until she feels better. Luckily the other ladies are all kind and don't enforce a rigid pecking order. She is now the matriarch!

The Naturalization Act of 1790 allowed only "free white persons" to become citizens—this included Irish immigrants but excluded Asians and others. Why special treatment? They were considered white under the racial classifications of the time, giving them access to legal citizenship and land ownership rights that were denied to many other immigrant groups.

Operation Paperclip – Post-WWII Special Treatment: After World War II, the U.S. brought over over 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians, many of whom had worked for the Nazi regime (including Wernher von Braun), through a secret program called Operation Paperclip. These individuals were given entry and employment despite Nazi affiliations. Why special treatment? The U.S. wanted to gain technological advantages in the arms and space races, especially against the Soviet Union. Their expertise was considered more valuable than the political/moral risks.

Why special treatment? Because they were fleeing communism, the U.S. government used Cuban immigration as a propaganda tool during the Cold War, contrasting it with how "free" the U.S. was.
