Blogging the slow rehabilitation of the abandoned allotment we just took on. Also, random likes and rebleets of politics, science, climate, computing, and history. Trying to be pleasant.

Many hours spent on this game. The LAN multilayer seemed incredible at the time

Oh just the vibe I got whenever he popped up on local news. Don't recall any specifics, and i never met him personally. But being pro gay is not really a problem for politicians round here.

Brighton Kemptown? A gay advocate is a sure vote winner. I think it's more that he was a bit of a pillock.

If the money isn't received in 5 minutes we'll reveal your name, the names of the three other people involved, and the shop where you bought the equipment.

All good points. The DPP was forced further right and became unelectable for all sorts of reasons (mainly incompetence). Can't generalise from the Danish to the UK, but it's definitely not an example of leftist defeat to the far right as a result of adopting hardline anti immigrant policy.

My point still stands that you need to understand the Danish situation, what worked and why, before commenting.

My bad. 2019 is when they were crushed.
November 18, 2025 at 3:28 PM
This is pretty naive analysis. The policies you're taking about were what allowed Venstre and SD to crush the Danish People's Party 10 years ago. Yes nothing lasts forever but DPP is still crushed.

The for him and for her is amazing. OK, you might expect sewing machine vs drill because of different gender roles. But there are no leisure items for her, versus golfing and exercise bike for him. She might get a chrome bin though!

Yeah I don't disagree with you, just pondering analogies etc
November 17, 2025 at 2:20 PM
That's not a good analogy either. In AWP people in desperate economic straights were emigrating to other countries, not resenting migrants coming in. We should be sympathetic to legal economic migrants who meet a workforce need, but generally people are.
November 17, 2025 at 12:36 PM
There are plenty of illegal immigrants. Mostly people who overstay their visas. Also, it's misleading to conflate asylum seekers with economic migration (the Auf Wiedersehen example). By muddling these things up you make the comms problem worse.
November 17, 2025 at 10:54 AM
They weren't illegal immigrants though. Conflating legal and illegal immigration is what the right does.
November 17, 2025 at 10:12 AM
The Danish left were successful in deflating the far right by adopting populist anti immigration measures, but they coupled it with leftist economic policy.

We shouldn't be taking Tommy Robinson's opinion seriously. He has an agenda.
