NYS again adds to the growing list of banning toxic #PFAS! HUGE round of applause to all those involved in getting this over the finish line!! @lindabrosenthal.bsky.social @cleanhealthyny.bsky.social @bobbiwilding.bsky.social @cpferrante.bsky.social @kate-donovan.bsky.social @weact4ej.bsky.social
⚠️ Manufacturers have long allowed PFAS, lead, mercury & other toxic ingredients to be used in menstrual products, endangering women’s health.

Proud that my new law with Senator Nathalia Fernandez will finally prohibit the use of these ingredients & make period products sold in NYS safer.

TOMORROW at 10 a.m. ET: Congress will hold a critical hearing on #PFAS #ForeverChemicals.

Lawmakers are considering whether to exempt certain industries (POLLUTERS) from cleaning up their PFAS mess, leaving communities and taxpayers to pay the price.

PFAS can cause serious health consequences.

Yet manufacturers make them anyway — risking the well-being of our communities.

That’s why Sen. Gillibrand and I reintroduced the PFAS Accountability Act to help exposure victims get justice.

Celebrity chefs told Californians that PFAS-coated pans were “safe,” and successfully lobbied Gavin Newsom to veto a bill phasing them out

They didn’t mention they all sell PFAS-coated pans.

New joint investigation with @mirandagreen.bsky.social and @atmosmag.bsky.social is out:
Why are famous chefs fighting PFAS bans?
The answer, in retrospect, is obvious—and it’s part of a larger campaign to stop bans on Teflon cookware nationwide.

Someone please make this make sense: They're calling for a plan to expedite #PFAS cleanup, but are going to approve using the same shit that's caused the massive contamination at 100s of bases for years longer, that they have been banned from buying for the past two years ?????
The #NDAA would delay the phaseout of 'forever chemicals' from the military's firefighting foam

Boohoo- such a 'burden' of reporting the presence of #PFAS so consumers & agencies identify sources of harmful chemicals & reduce exposures. What about the body burden?!! "Pushback may not only be about compliance issues but also about strategically avoiding PFAS regulations" - boom.
Pharmaceutical companies lobby against state PFAS regulations claiming compliance chaos. Environmental advocates say most state laws align, the real issue is companies don't want transparency about forever chemicals in medications.
