There are other ways of making the CMOH more independent. For example, the person could be appointed for a fixed term and structured like the Director of Public Prosecutions in some provinces & federally:

An important editorial in The Lancet on health care in Canada. Well worth reading.
However it overstates the role of the federal gov't. Ottawa funds less than 25% of health care costs & P/T gov'ts do much more than "administer" the system.

A new definition of the ‘national interest’ of the USA. Probably invented on the fly by DOGE staff as a post-hoc attempt to justify indiscriminate slashing of USAID. But is this incredibly narrow & short-sighted list a glimpse of how Trump 2.0 sees foreign policy?

The Ontario Auditor General confirms that the new “HART Hubs” cannot fill the gap created by the closures of safe injection sites across the province.
But I fully expect the Ford government will continue repeating the same line. This may even help them get re-elected.
Meanwhile people will die.
