The Fall - There's a Ghost in My House
Yes, I know I did the R Dean Taylor version on day 10/365, but I love this cover.

Beck - Sexx Laws
I wasn't going to pick this but someone recently posted a Q Magazine chart of the worst albums ever made featuring Midnite Vultures and, while it's not a hill I want to die on, I'm here to stand up for this pretty good record.

Love - The Daily Planet
Have been struck down by the lurgi, so I'm just weakly grabbing records from last week's pile. Anyway. I was previously unaware this was even a single.

The Bob Crewe Generation - You Only Live Twice
I had no idea this existed until a week ago. Neat easy listening cover of one of the best Bond songs.

Tom Scott - Gotcha (Theme from Starsky & Hutch)
Very good music for throwing bad guys over a car bonnet while you wear super funky knitwear.

The Sugarcubes - Birthday
Before the Sugarcubes, the only thing I ever got from Iceland was an Arctic Roll and some Findus crispy pancakes.
A great record.

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O'Mine
I was today years old when I learned this is called Sweet Child 'O'Mine' and not 'Of Mine'. I'm not going to wade thru all the boxes of singles to confirm, but I'm 99% sure this is the only hair metal 45 I own.

Also included in yesterday's collection.
Can't help but imagine the previous owner fastidiously drawing these out while playing 45s on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Lovely stuff.

Bobby Hebb - Sunny
Picked this up yesterday in my once-in-a-lifetime batch of 60s 45s. It contained an Aphrodite's Child 45 I already have, but I bought it anyway for this lovely homemade sleeve. It's absolutely delightful, yes?

Pleasing trip to the high street.
Bought 50 singles. Here are some of the highlights.
Especially happy to have those Love 45s, finally.

Air - Sexy Boy
I was, and remain obsessed with Moon Safari, and feel like an absolute chump for not going to their show at the Albert Hall last September.

Happy Mondays - Step On
I remember this was originally marked for release on an NME covers compilation (Ruby Trax?) until someone emerged from an e-fuelled haze and realised they had a stone-cold classic 45 on their hands. Banger. Obvs.

I've had the Immaculate Collection on repeat in the car since the summer. Saw her at Earl's Court around the time of her Music album and it was pop perfection.

Chas & Dave - Strummin'
Aside from Chas & Dave, my old man was the only person I knew to say, Gertcha. Anyway. Chas & Dave had chops. And as everyone knows, it's them playing on Labi Siffre's I Got The... which Eminem sampled on My Name Is.

Spacemen 3 - Take Me to the Other Side
Very heartening to see a big chunk of my feed this morning devoted to celebrating Pete Kember and Jason Pierce's 60th birthdays. Spacemen 3 have always been right at the heart of my love of noise.

Nick Lowe - Cruel to Be Kind
A great 45. I imagine Nick Lowe to be the kind of guy who would give you a lend of his lawnmower or jet washer if he was your neighbour. Even if this isn't true, I want it to be.
