Programming, teaching, programming again; unsuccessful Greens state election candidate. Likes to play bass guitar. View on AI is "Butlerian Jihad".
It's a bit like what they used to say about Prussia: an army with its own state.

Peppermint Grove feels more like a yacht club with its own LGA.

(A very nice yacht club, I should add. I was invited there by rellies I hadn't seen in 42 years. A good time was had by all.)

All councils, or just the small ones?

I kinda like Brisbane City Council (the one I'm in) to be in charge of libraries, parks and playgrounds. Especially the libraries. It's not like one of those micro-councils (nano-councils?) that you get in other cities. E.g.:

"AI Slop" is Macquarie Dictionary's word for 2025, by popular vote. The public is on your side, Molly.

That's bloody awesome to see. It reminds me of coming into Việt Nam in 2003, when Unicode font support was still patchy, and it was hard to find typefaces apart from Times New Roman / Arial / Courier New that had good cross language support. So people built their own.

The stuff there is amazing.

Definitely wild. Here's my wife's windscreen afterwards.

ClearSky allows you to find out what accounts block you... and I know of one particular rusted on who has given me the block. The irony is that it shares my name (Peter Murphy).

Ironic, as Trump always reminded me a little of this bloke.

It's like he never worked out that sharing the original joke with the original author attribution _intact_ is like "second hand" laughs, in a "I found this funny; I hope you do too". People could even think "That Elon: he's got good taste in memes/Onion articles/etc."

What a psychic waste of a man.

Definitely. I will even tag my Canadian cousins in the repost.

(Canada has optional, FPTP voting, so many of my cousins don't vote. But my uncles and aunts do. I'll inform them as well.)

I find him far more odious than most. He's not just any shill: he's an actual government Minister with the power to make a difference, and choosing not to.

Scarr may be a hypocrite, but I find Watt's smug, self-satisfied "lecture" actually worse. He has quite the Backpfeifengesicht face.
