Shields keeps saying that art pretty much imitates life “mimesis”. Also writers keep copying and writing what other past writers wrote. I understand his point of view but what sucks is acting like you have done something that isn’t your actual work and having ownership of that. #realityhunger

I feel like maybe the truth now is less of a fact and more intention if you know what I mean? #realityhunger

So art isn’t really a reality but we try to make it a reality by “smuggling” it in? Smuggling is a unique word to use honestly it’s weird. #realityhunger

Me reading this he says a lot of crazy stuff lol but him kind of saying that memory can rearrange itself, that basically means most of my memories can be rearranged and some facts were left out. #realityhunger

This is so real because if I tell you something today and I try to explain it to you again a different day I can forget and leave out very important details. SO a lie can be a very bad fact in a way???? #realityhunger

So talking about genre collapse, I feel like TikTok’s are more “real” than other stuff online. So does this mean genre collapse irl? #realityhunger

So when I was asked about the ocean question that made me really think. It felt like I knew a lot more than I actually thought I would. Like the pause when I go in the water and the cold climbing up my legs. I never knew I paid attention to small details like that.

Primary takeaway I got was that we have to learn how AI acts and we have to steer it in the direction the way we want it to act and we can control how it acts but without prompts it will steer off #primarytakeaway

I think what he meant is learning to rewrite prompts to AI will let us steer it instead of being steered on its own #joesopinion

Joe’s explanation tells us that telling AI you are a "helpful assistant" isn’t normal, but it actually makes it think that way and makes it help us better AI in general #helpfulassistant

It's very creepy and weird saying that we don't know why LLMs work the way they do #joeandashley

Joe saying that nobody really knows why new LLMs behave the way they do is crazy but like everything we know up to this point. It’s a reminder that we’re building and creating things faster than we can control them... #joeandashley

This feels very McLuhan because the environment is doing the work. #joeandashley

The screaming in the last few seconds caught me off guard and not seeing anything made me focus on the tone more which is better I think #atmospherestudy

It felt like the background noises and silence played a big role more than when the person was talking. #atmospherestudy

I feel like around the minute 5:30 is when the audio changed how I listened to it. Everything was different like the atmosphere and I was paying more attention to details I wouldn't have paid attention to before reading the book and listening to the videos. #atmospherestudy

Around the minute 5:30 it was just music and the music just hit different. Maybe I can hear the story in sound not in language after all?! #knickerbockerglory

the sound of the birds, listening to that with my headset on hearing them move from one ear to the other was making me live in the moment. The sound felt close to me. #knickerbockerglory

I feel like the most logical answer would be that me noticing things that I wouldn't have noticed back then and that's how I become dangerous. #hwa2 #dangerous

When I'm scrolling now on my phone I pay attention and see if this is what I wanted to happen or I'm here for a different reason #hwa2 #donetome

McLuhan doesn't want us to break things in parts but just put it all together so we don't lose the main idea of it. Try to notice the environment but not just the content. #hwa2 #whatMcLuhanwants

McLuhan flips John Dewey’s quote not to dismiss him but to show the limits of critique when that critique accepts fragmentation as the norm. #hwa2 #flippingdewey
February 8, 2026 at 10:09 PM
The two Deweys are John Dewey and Melvil Dewey and he used them to show the hidden costs of fragmentation. Melvil pretty said that everything is numbers but John was against that and said we are more than just numbers in this world. #hwa2 #doubledewey

I would say I don't get distracted as easily as others would be but obviously if anyone starts scrolling on insta or tiktok or wtv then you can easily lose track of what you wanted to do but it happens to the most of us. #hwa2 #mediafunhouse
