Him being sent back to fighting after return is a war crime by Russia - Geneva convention on prisoners of war, Article 117 is very simple and clear "No repatriated person may be employed on active military service."

The only way to bring lasting security to Europe is by having Russia be defeated in this war in a manner that makes it incapable of future aggression.

An "AI" tech support line told me that it'd raise a ticket and get back to me in a couple of days

Yeah, I guess that's probably what a human AI tech support guy might have said. Good job impersonating tech support, one slight problem.

I feel there are very different types of societal support - the places you mention provide more financial support from society, but IMHO returning to earlier birth rates will require cutting the amount of *time* expected from parents back to where it was decades earlier, and noone provides that.

Whether an attribute is a slur depends on it's appropriateness. Labeling someone as an animal is a slur, labeling a cow as an animal is not. Calling a person fat is a slur, calling butter fat is not a slur. Objectifying a person is a slur, objectifying an object is entirely appropriate.

It's appropriate to use dehumanizing language for non-humans and objectifying language to refer to objects - after all, the whole problem with dehumanizing language is that it equates some people to objects, and forbidding dehumanizing language towards objects (or artificial systems) also does that.

In other disciplines where people "without a technical background" need to develop things - people like linguists for computational linguistics, biologists for bioinformatics, etc - they just learn how to program with the same tools tech people have found to be best. And it works better this way.

Right now, one institution after another is calculating that if they cross Trump MAGA will hurt them, but the Dems won't.

You need them to recalculate and you get them to recalculate by putting large, angry crowds in the street over and over and over again.

Then Dems are "me, or the pitchforks."

880000 kWh a year i.e. 100 kW is a really small number for a power plant, just a single wind turbine can produce much more. If the author is being intentionally misleading in this part of the article (trying to present an insignificant amount as a large one), how can I trust anything else in it?

Do note that the putin's offer was *not* to "to end war as soon as Ukraine gives him everything he wants"; this wasn't a peace offer but rather a *cease fire* for that - i.e. to temporarily pause the war as soon as Ukraine gives him everything he wants now, and then a bit later come for even more.

Do you think the replacement would do anything better instead of following the same course, perhaps even more effectively?
