And the appropriation to spend the money is where?

Translated, Trump cannot turn on a lawnmower.

I agree that there is a reasonable argument to be made around hate speech and whether and how it should be regulated, but the Russians are certainly not in a position to contribute to the argument.

If only that were true. What is your evidence?

Another way of presenting your facts is that 70% of Americans either supported or did not bother to oppose someone who by knowledge, temperament and personal qualities should not be on your condo board or HOA.
December 6, 2025 at 1:12 PM
The defence that many did not bother to vote at all is, with respect, not at all a defence.

I take the point that many voted against him. Good for you. Again that does not challenge my point that there has to be something profoundly wrong for him to have gotten the votes that he did.
December 6, 2025 at 1:09 PM
What I said was that nearly 50% voted for him. In the last three elections he obtained 46%, 47% and 50% of the popular vote. My point is that even when he lost, a very substantial portion of the electorate voted for a person who in another place or another time would have been a fringe candidate.

Canadians, who have watched Kevin O’Leary’s act longer than anyone, are asking why anyone would take him seriously. I don’t even think that he takes himself seriously.
December 6, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Your President is a malignant toddler, and nearly 50% of Americans voted for him three times.

Seriously, what is wrong with you people?
December 6, 2025 at 4:01 AM
More or less the same formula applies to the members of the Trump administration.
December 4, 2025 at 1:55 PM
I would rather watch the lettuce wilt, more entertaining and most certainly more thoughtful.
December 4, 2025 at 1:54 PM
Yes, but over half of those who bothered to vote voted for the representative of a party that promotes authoritarianism, racism and the denial of science.

Republicans must spend all day hiding from all news coverage do as to avoid having to comment on Trump.

Sergeant Schultz would be proud.

Scott Jennings just came on, so I turned CNN off.

I actually enjoy listening to people who disagree with me, but SJ is performative and mindless.

… waters, which will annoy the Turks.
November 29, 2025 at 2:47 PM
You could certainly make that argument, but Trump is very sensitive to the retail price of gas, and that price is driven by the world price of crude.

In addition a higher crude price is obviously good for oil producers, but it is bad for affordability and the rest of the economy both Trump problems

This creates real issues for Russia. These tankers are likely uninsured, and certainly not insured against war risks. Their owners will be disinclined to risk them. Russia will need to offer some version of war risk insurance and will likely seek to route the tankers through Turkish territorial ..,

(although note that these tankers were high in the water and therefore empty) and a desire to accommodate Trump, who would be concerned that a tanker war would raise oil prices.

Ukraine may be less concerned about accommodating Trump and more interested in showing Trump that some cards.
November 29, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Interesting that Ukraine has chosen to do this now. Presumably tankers are easy targets and they could have chosen to do this earlier.

Perhaps a combination of being less concerned about upsetting Trump and more interested in showing Trump a few cards.
November 29, 2025 at 12:50 PM
Worth noting that the tanker is riding high in the water, which means that it is inbound and unloaded, which should limit the environmental consequences.

Still Ukraine will take a hit on environmental consequences. Trump will also be upset as it may lead to a spike in oil prices.
November 29, 2025 at 12:47 PM
I am guessing that this is something that Trump did not want, and may have warned against, as it could easily lead to a spike in oil prices.

Interesting that Ukraine is choosing to do it now.
