Much as I loved Jonathan Dean's Radiohead feature in yesterday's Sunday Times, the thing I keep coming back to is this photo of them as teenagers. The band posters are Iron Maiden, Marillion (from their 1983 tour programme) and fellow prog-rockers I.Q. I wonder whose bedroom this is?

There are hardly any radio stations left that look like the radio stations you imagine in your brain, with actual turntables and moody lighting, but Soho Radio is one of them. And I'll be using them EXTENSIVELY between 6pm and 8pm. Join me, why don't you?!

Figuring out a narrative thread for a feature can be a bit mind-boggling. With some, it’s best to write the first two paragraphs and feel your way through. With others, you need to know exactly where you’re going. Somehow this turned into a 5000 word Pet Shop Boys feature.

33 years ago, Ken Sweeney sang his heartbreak into a tape machine and, in doing so, created a modest masterpiece of jingle-jangle mourning. I've loved this album ever since it came out & it's dream to be able to give it an expanded re-release on Needle Mythology. Understand/Understood is out today.

Now looking forward to Bally Sagoo’s DJ set at Bobby Friction’s Azaadi in Shangri-La at #Glastonbury. Bollywood Flashback was a huge album for me. Have no idea what to expect from him in 2025, but that’s why I’m so excited to be here.

Met Lee Mack for the new @radiotimes.bsky.social I was initially given 45 minutes, & when it became apparent that this wouldn't be long enough, we kept going & he even invited me to hop in the car to his next engagement so I could use that time as well. Lovely guy. Real unassuming warmth about him.
