The glory that once was, in 1996 an HES archaeological survey of Avielochan Farm in #Cairngorms found this site that “may well be a ring cairn”. Inset is what it might once have looked like #TombTuesday

There's enjoyment to be found up there: "the hills themselves lack interest but this walk gives a real feeling of space" @walkhighlands.co.uk .... well for us anyway a couple of years ago.

A range of prehistoric funeral sites are clustered along the Strathnairn including 'Hangman's Hill'; a burial cairn of Wessex type, said to be uncommon in Bronze Age Scotland. #TombTuesday

Rediscovered only 26 yrs ago Ballinluig is a hidden gem in the #Cairngorms. Close by are small cairns, hut circles and a km SE is a Ring cairn … an ancient community? #StandingStoneSunday
