Neoclassical economists often say competition is the key to growth, efficiency and innovation.
But what if the real driver of progress is actually cooperation? Let’s unpack this 👇

Social resources are scarce within the neoclassical framework based on marginal productivity. Investing, making goods and providing services happen only if marginal productivity can be achieved. Indeed we have an housing crisis, working poors and the lowest fertility rate ever.

The main issue with the neoclassical theory of distribution where the demand for each factor of production depends on the marginal productivity of that factor is that it doesn't work very well with inelastic demand and inelastic buyers.
And, nowadays, many workers are employed in >

Social validation is what truly matters for people.
For many it happens alongside economic validation, showing wealth or status.
But importantly, social validation can occur without economic validation. #econsky

I just saw a video that said cutting SNAP would lower food prices because it would cut demand.

I'm starting to think that Econ 101 either needs to be drastically overhauled or that you cannot take it unless you commit to taking four econ courses one heavily focused on externalities and elasticity.

Our economy is running on the spending of the top 10%. It does not care about the bottom 60%. I think this is also why they aren't pushing for universal basic income right when you'd think they would to maintain consumer buying power. Our consumer economy has become reoriented around elite spending.

I keep reading about growth and economists so enthusiastic that the mainstream economy has been awarded a Nobel.
They aren't mentioning one little thing, though, the condition for it to happen: a strong welfare State.
It's in the actual study and in the theory.

We produce more than enough food for everyone in the US to ever go without any hunger at all, but we choose not to distribute access to food by distributing money for food. We could all be getting enough basic income to end poverty already, had we started small 50 yrs ago.

Instead, we did this:
