I’m glad you are getting back into programming. Still using C# I presume? I’ll be interested to know how Windows on ARM works out for you over time . It may still be the future. I just wish it was a less messy rollout.

Big ideas are exciting! Good wishes.

Too much time fighting MS. I’m an MS investor. They really had to work at losing me. I’m now trying to embrace Linux more. It isn’t perfect, but I find myself fighting it less. I’m even playing with a Linux phone.

What made you buy the snapdragon surface?

Separately I was disappointed by lack of visible Linux support on launch. MS has disappointed me with pressure to login with them. They want to get in between me and my computer. No thanks. Also Excel changes broke my software in ways that were difficult to fix. As a Windows dev I feel like I spend

I was excited when the snapdragon elite computers were released. I even made investments! Was going to order a dev kit. That got delayed then cancelled. Thought this would be competitive with Apple. Launch felt bungled. Q was sued by ARM. Thought MS might help make peace. I own all 3. Messy sitch.

Hopefully you have better knees than me. Running makes me feel elderly for a week after I run. I found the exercise bike to be lower impact. Even just walking can be great exercise. Wishing you a good outcome.

Weights are great also. One can do a lot with dumbbells and a small bench. I got a pair of adjustable dumbbells. The key was to also get a stand to avoid back pain. Lifting them off the floor was a literal pain in the back.

Could you consider getting an exercise bike or rowing machine to use at home? That will be easier than going to a gym. You may feel more comfortable doing a light workout until you ca rebuild fitness.

I think Apple Health has a way to track, “time in bed”, using the Alarm app. I wonder if Google has something similar.

I googled it. Looks like it has a digital display. It has 2/5 stars. I wonder if the battery voltage is low and is being use as an analog reference voltage.

Yes, there’ve been info leaks. I follow a lot of cryptography and security people here and on Mastodon. It is concerning to see so much of the world moving toward identity mandates.

I think I sent a DM. We’ll see if it worked. Congratulations! I’m not doing the fatherhood thing, but I love being an uncle to my nephews. It has been a wonderful journey with them. Enjoy your journey!

If only there were a robot to help. ;) Enjoy the journey! You get to observe your child bootstrapping human consciousness.

I’ve been trying to figure out if, “we're expecting a delivery”, means you are about to become a father. If so, congratulations!

I’ve noticed that aluminum extrusions with metric dimensions do something like that. A 2040 extrusion is listed as 400mm long. I presume it is biased towards keeping units the same. In the case you observed there may be a broader context unit bias.

Maybe pan fry it and make a jelly & butter sauce with the fond.

The fact that it, “smells accurate”, may the danger of this. It may even incidentally be accurate, but that doesn’t mean it, “understands’, enough context to be reliably accurate. Just be cautious, though obviously this is more for fun. :)

I have an incomplete understanding, but it seems like many layers of context (spacial perception, surfing kinematic optimization) requiring special training would be required for this to actually work. Or it could just be responding with what sounds like good advice based on a language model.

I enjoy adrenaline when I feel like I can control it. My balance isn’t great and I can’t predict nature so surfing doesn’t appeal to me.

When I code something hard I become more powerful. Pushing my limits feels exciting to me. I want to email you a link to something cool I built.

When I was in public safety that certainly got my adrenaline going when things went sideways. I didn’t enjoy that kind of stress, beyond my control.

These days my adrenaline comes from coding. Building cool shit feels amazing! It is like playing a video game but IRL. I feel like a wizard.

Cool! It is nice to see the progression! My youngest nephew is into surfing now so he tells me about his adventures. It isn’t something I’d do, but it is interesting.

Looking good. Good wishes on your training progression.

I’ve been using minijinja lately in Visual Studio Code. I think I found an extension that helped with syntax highlighting. Can’t remember which, but I think it was suggested based on the .jinja.html file name. I’ve used tera before, but that’s the same style.

Given that this is a personal project, should we assume that you personally pay in full for void’s operation? Does letta offer you reduced employee pricing? Asking just for clarification. Disregard if this has already been explained.

The ads on YT were so bad years ago I decided it was worth paying not to see them. Maybe they are worse now.
