Retired resource economist. I was the lead subject matter expert for energy-related CO2 for 20 years with the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Looking forward to communicating with experts on climate-related energy developments.
I believe there is something psychological going on here. As it becomes more obvious to people that it is happening, they seek to block out the evidence. It is a way of dealing with the anxiety. The problem is that it has real consequences for both mitigation and adaptation--the time to act is now.

As a member of the Citizens' Climate Lobby, I'd say that the most important segment of our membership right now are conservatives. This may in fact be true all the time, but it is especially true now. I'd like to salute them and their efforts. Helping people understand the issue is so important.

I remember not long ago that heavy trucking was considered impractical for EV applications and maybe a market for H2 instead. This demonstrates how much progress has been made in battery and other EV-related technologies.

The danger for the anti-vaxers is that they tend to be highly regionally concentrated in certain states. Eventually it will catch up to them.

Boomer here. When I read them I used to say to myself--at least it couldn't happen here. But here we are. Very troubling indeed.

People ask me about my retirement plans. When I tell them that I'm trying to keep the Earth habitable by people who are young today and future generations. They look at me like I'm a real buzzkill. The actual buzzkill is the FF advocates who are delaying the needed transition.

Subsidies (carrots) tend to work better in terms of political economics than bans (sticks). Also, he is running for president, so there is that.

The dog claimed it was an accident but there was the incident where the man broke a treat in half and claimed it was a whole treat. So, there is motive.

These are not scandals--they are crimes. It's not the utility that wants customers to pay--it is the people who have committed the crimes. Most importantly, they were not errors but intentional misuse of funds. Let's get the language right!

Johnny Cash is one of the coolest people who has ever lived. This is not debatable.

I'd imagine that the amount of sunlight in the heating season might be the reason that historically there hasn't been much in the way of solar PV. However, now that the cost has come down dramatically it likely makes more sense.

Better that than teaching them how to build a fusion reactor.
