We had a great suggestion from @nickinmasham.bsky.social (IIRC) of making it any song released since the country was last in the (actual) World Cup

I might tweak it to include 2024 recording dates but it's really just the standard year poll rules for live recordings (it's just that with those there's lots more time afterwards for them to come out)

I guess a big specific question is "is Anxiety eligible" and Wikipedia is telling me the 2025 hit is a re-recording? So I guess it is!

It's more that the one type of music you can pretty much guarantee has been released in every country in the last 4 years is dodgy metal (though in the Gulf States it's more often terrible EDM by some remote scion of the ruling family)

IIRC this was a terrible metal band charter for some smaller countries but I think 21st Century would be fair

There will be an artist banlist based on most-nominated acts to stop the Beatles etc getting in. I've seen voters frown upon really obvious stuff in the past - generally the smaller/harder the country the more forgivable it is
