A colleague told me a few weeks ago they heard a computer science academic say that everything in their university library was "public domain".

Don't get me started on the libraries "providing access" to their out-of-copyright and/or orphan work print collections for the purposes LLM training. 🤑

"Senior leaders", likely having been approached by "content providers", are already asking publicly how long it will be before they can replace their local/academic/public library services (content AND staff) with Gen/AgenticAI.

If they can get 80% of the service/resourcing for 20% of the current "cost", or even believe that will be possible in the near future, we'll watch the information/library/archive profession implode in real time. There will be no fixing it.

If you're using the API and constructing queries dynamically, you can pull back all the abbreviations for a suburb and adjust by year, or just add OR clauses […]
