#currentread : “Exposure” by Ramona Emerson. I read Emerson’s debut, “Shutter,” & enjoyed the blend of crime mixing with indigenous belief and culture. Emerson’s background as a crime scene photog grounds this world into a vivid place that allows the supernatural elements flourish. #booksy

Storytelling is instinctual. Storr explains how our brains do this in our daily lives. But as writers it’s our task to be able to summon these skills at will & apply them to our work so the reader “sees” our story’s creative vision & world as clearly as we do. #indiewriter #indieauthor #writingcraft

The work-in-progress view you get when you’re writing the 4th book in your supernatural noir/urban fantasy series and have to reread parts of the 1st book to remember world build details from your own imagination. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️😆 #indieauthor #indiewriter #supernaturalnoir #urbanfantasy #thedarkeasy #indiebooks

Revisiting read: “Paradise Lost” by John Milton. Even Hell has its heroes 😈. Satan as a romantic figure & the universe’s first rebel. Writing this in 1667 must’ve damaged the self-righteous. Dore’s illustrations make this journey through poetic but archaic English a pleasure. #write&resist #booksy
