Into week eight of my recovery from THR and I am decidedly sore. I think I may have been overdoing my physio routine. Hopefully I haven't done anything stupid to myself which is always a possibility as I'm daft. I'm taking a couple of days off to sit on my sore arse and feel sorry for myself.

After perusing my tbr for something to read alongside the final volume of The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman I've alighted upon this from Barbara Pym. I've had this alongside a few other novels by Ms Pym for some years but up to now I've not indulged. So I thought why not?

Listening to Salome by Richard Strauss whilst massaging E45 cream into one's hip replacement scar is exactly the right vibe for a dull, wet Friday night in Wales.

Sut Mae.
Starting one's day picking dried super glue away from an operation scar is not something I had ever imagined happening but nevertheless.

That was quick! I am home once more and my consultant is very happy with my progress. I just need to keep on keeping on. In his own words "You're doing very well. I don't need to worry about you."
Huzzah!! Cataract op up next in December.

That's me away to that Wrexham to see my consultant sawbones. Play nicely.

Stuff they don't tell you about recuperation from total hip replacement surgery.
It takes a long time.
You get a very sore tail bone from uncomfortable seating arrangements.
Your wrists get progressively more and more painful from using crutches.
It's boring and lonely.

Another small success on the road to recovery this morning when I walked to my local pharmacy to get my flu jab. Now I'm sore but pleased with myself.
