On Halloween and every other day of the year, which side are you on?
the working class or billionaires?

Photo from protest at San Diego Federal Building, where ICE abducts migrants attending ICE check-ins & court hearings, & where ICE detains people at the building's basement & denies it does this.

"Consider choosing violence"
An ICE agent with a curious uniform, casually and comfortably promoting violence while working at the San Diego federal building.

San Diego protested Palantir and its dangerous and deadly surveillance technologies that track everyday people and cause untold human suffering while prioritizing profits for billionaires. Sharing four photos from the event, which was part of a national day of action against Palantir.

ICE issues a statement regarding its agents' use of "less lethal noise flash diversionary devices" on May 30 to excuse state violence, and blames neighbors wanting to protect migrant workers.

I suppose ICE feared the middle finger brigade that ran them out of the San Diego neighborhood.

ICE discharged 3 flash-bang grenades. The people, even more determined, then pushed ICE agents out of their neighborhood with anti-fascist slogans forcing them to retreat.
This is the way it should be everywhere.

ICE raided a popular restaurant in a San Diego neighborhood. About 3 dozen agents, some in full tactical gear, arrested restaurant workers while patrons were enjoying dinner. The ICE agents didn't expect a resounding rejection by neighbors & patrons. The community spontaneously protested.

Private security working with ICE at San Diego imm courthouse to violate due process & abduct people have a curious way of displaying names.

The agents called building security on human rights observers & volunteers.
They detained people with and without attorneys, surprising them as they walked out of court.
This new tactic has repeated in other parts of the country. Bullies with guns & badges trampling on basic due process. Shameful.

Marines on a covert anti-drug interdiction operation in Redford TX stalked & killed Esequiel Hernandez Jr., an 18-yr-old who was herding his family's goats. A victim of a militarized US-MX border.

Can a just healing occur when our communities face increased militarization?

While passengers in maritime crossings have historically been MX nationals, increasingly people using this EWI method has diversified bc there is no viable option for asylum. US authorities will blame smugglers, for good reason, but smugglers only exist because they profit from militarized borders.

The soldiers are putting up razor wire. One holding a rifle asked me "What are you doing here?" & fist pumped me thru the slatted border wall as if we have a mutual interest in the military's endeavor. He was giddy. A superior quickly pulled him back & whispered something.
Cruel, deadly symbolism.

CBP was to host a private "public" recruitment event in San Diego's historic barrio community. It wasn't even on the library's calendar but CBP posted it on IG. CBP cancelled it when they realized they would be protested. An organized community shut them down.

Here is a photo I took last year that reminded me of John's photo. This was in San Diego at an open-air detention site where Border Patrol forced hundreds of people to wait prior to being picked up for processing. They patted the girl down, even had her remove her beanie. It was heart wrenching.

The ever-changing border enforcement landscape, with armed soldiers and concertina wire draping 30-ft border walls.

Newly installed c-wire on 2nd border barrier in San Diego, in the area Border Patrol would hold asylum-seeking migrants, in some cases for days without food, water or hygienic facilities, in an open air detention site. Metal rods are on primary wall where new c-wire will be installed in coming days.

ICE, flanked by DEA agents, detained 16 workers yesterday in El Cajon, a San Diego County city. Dozens of agents held workers under the sun, limited access to water, while surrounded with high-powered weapons. An expensive theatrical display of unnecessary power & now families are separated.

Obviously whatever claims they post are suspect, but who writes this stuff for them?

"We will continue to make sure these dirtbags are removed from America's streets and face justice.”

It's like PG-13 gone awry.

The skittish Chows of the borderlands have become our companions during morning or evening shifts. Lovely to see them tonight if even for a brief moment.

"Justice & Dignity" was just one of the signs at a cavalcade as horseback riders trotted thru downtown San Diego calling for an end to raids & for the protection of family & friends. Supporters followed behind with signs. Onlookers mostly applauded. One single person jeered in disapproving protest.

Who should tell her? Someone should tell her. Or nah?

At the El Cajon City Council meeting, the community convinced 3 of 5 council members to reject a resolution that sought collaboration between local authorities & the feds on immigration enforcement.
Sometimes there were moments of pure hilarity.
