Really hits home having just finished rereading Vance’s “To Live Forever”, where everyone works for a giant machine that decides how long they live and are told not to question the machine but no one actually knows how it works, it just prints calculations. Published in the 1950’s!

I pay over 600 a month (becoming 800 next year lol) for legally required insurance that doesn’t pay 5 dollars for the only drug I need.

Walgreens (biggest pharmacy chain in SF I think and my closest pharmacy) couldn’t renegotiate their contract in the middle of me getting a prescription. I asked them how much it would cost if my insurance paid. 120 dollars. Okay, what if I pay myself, no insurance? 5 dollars.

I wasn’t QA on that project, but the hardware/software interaction was my responsibility, so I spent a lot of time messing with it and would complain lovingly when I wasn’t getting enough spicy/ridiculous bugs involving physical interaction.

Connectivity issues, pet knocking toys off, child or friend bumping the table, you name it. The real world of physical, wireless, NFC devices could do anything. So I actually had to ask QA to not play the game, but constantly hit/bump/introduce objects on the portal while someone was playing.

While teaching our QA teams on Skylanders, I had to write a document and do training on “how to be a portal jerk”. I asked QA to spend time _not_ playing the game but just sitting there and messing with the toys on the portal, effectively mimicking a whole slew of issues we wanted to protect against

Echoing Sonic 2 and beyond with Tails in the ol genesis lineup. Spiritfarer is maybe too mature in the writing but also has a similar buddy co-op with a follower. Cat Quest 2/3 doesn’t have the exact same thing but a single player can help the less capable one pretty easily!
