It opened in 1937 with land for 106 families, many of whom were eventually able to purchase the land they worked.

Georgia’s boundaries would stay roughly the same until 1802 when the current western border was established.

Many of the prominent landmarks of Atlanta can be seen in large images along the back wall, including the State Capitol, the skyline, and what appears to be City Hall.

Four different railroads are shown, but only two share a depot. This must have made the railroads in Macon at the turn of the century somewhat confusing for passengers and residents alike.

This photograph shows the celebrations in Cairo, Georgia. The citizens of Cairo organized a mock funeral for Kaiser Wilhelm II, which future governor Ed Rivers preached at. Afterwards, the Kaiser was burned in effigy.

The courthouse was repaired after the tornado, but it would later be demolished in 1966 to make way for a replacement building.
