Enjoyed a great evening, in fantastic company, last night at the Bothwell Community Hub, with @gfpaterson.bsky.social and the lovely Elissa Soave.
Left feeling suitably enthused to keep on keeping on with this writing lark.😃

Dropped into Calton Books this morning and was surprised and delighted to see a certain book among its titles. Also took the opportunity to splurge on some others myself, including @donnamclean.bsky.social’s memoir, which I’ve been meaning to pick up for long enough. Also Kelman’s most recent.🙌🏻❤️😁

Tonight, two weeks hence, I’ll be spraffing about Liberties, the working class condition — and, by extension, my writing —- and other associated verbal ramblings in leafy, autumnal Bothwell . Hopefully see some of you there.

Very much looking forward to this event next month, in which I’ll be in conversation with the inimitable @gfpaterson.bsky.social and the equally distinguished, Elissa Soave about all things writing. Hope to see some of you there.

Rutherglen Library never takes liberties, only its patrons. 😃

My book has been on loan more than on the shelf in this library, more than any other, as far as I can see.

This makes this writer happy.

Libraries are important.

Use them, or lose them.

The first of the ‘Authors in Conversation’ events, presented by Elissa Soave, author of the fantastic ‘Ginger and Me’, and ‘Graffiti Girls’, speaking to the equally fantastic, Gillian Shirreffs, is taking place on Friday, 30th May at the Bothwell Community Hub. Please share. #writingcommunity

Any green-fingered types able to identify this plant (weed?) that’s performing a hostile takeover of my garden?

The Tarmachan Ridge and Lawers range (I think) and the woodland I neglected to include in the earlier photos, passed through in the descent back to Loch Lubnaig.

Another false summit, then finally getting to the summit cairn. Stùc a' Chròin from the summit. 4/

Stob Binnein and its taller brother, Ben More in the distance. Readers of ‘Liberties’ will know that somewhere in the glens betwixt the vantage point and those peaks lies a certain (fictional?) bothy. A windswept (and interesting?) writer, and another false summit. 3/

From parking in a lay-by at Loch Lubnaig, a reasonably pronounced ascent to the signposted climb proper. Views to Ben Ledi to the rear as I did so. The first of a few false summits ahead. 2/

Went a dauner up Ben Each the day, and a fine day it was. 1/

Strong agree from this guy, just back from another day’s daunering up a mountain.👌🏻

Two albums I’ve not listened to in many a moon, revisited this week. Both, immeasurably excellent.

Pleased to be a part of this stellar lineup of Scottish authors for a chinwag on all things literary, curated by the wonderful, Elissa Soave.
More details to follow in the coming months.😃📚

Followed by a pint and the worst ever Ploughman’s lunch ever endured. Other than that though, a good wee day oot. 2/2

Happened to be in Newton Mearns today, where I spied a certain book in a shop belonging to a certain bookselling chain. #BookSky #Scotland #Glasgow

Ensuring TBR pile equilibrium is once again temporarily restored, @drewgum.bsky.social’s ‘Saltburn’ has winged its way to Glasgow.

Read it when @influxpress.bsky.social
published it. A compelling read, like a literary Black Mirror instalment.

Of recent times the Art School and Old College Bar spring to mind. Overwhelmingly though, this one:
