On the Billie Eilish record, audio engineers lowered the volume, to fit the album on one record. As a result you have to bump up volume on the amp and all surface noises become very noticeable.

Dunno I just keep tags as-is, rename files and folders to keep uniformity and just sort all albums by year, this is enough for me. If I really need, there's an interface in the VLC to sort by artist, genres, album name etc..

I'll check out Tidal once I run through my latest albums. My need is simple: fast access to new releases and a good discovery algorithm. Frankly, given the mixed complaints I've heard, I'm skeptical Tidal can deliver the features I need, but will give it a shot.
