It was never as lovey-dovey in the 1980s as many made out. Certainly not during our two Anfield wins when we had a quarter of the Kop. One or two places in town where there was always trouble.

Context in the 80s was the togetherness from the rest of the country/govt having pops at us.

Ten Haag was awful. Interesting that the Dutch media regard Slot as a much better coach. I'll suggest that both of them, and Amorim, may be good coaches, but are found wanting as managers.

Could be a communication/non-native speaker issue, but I think that's where the deficiency lies.

Oh, your recruitment has been bafflingly dreadful for years, a richer version of Everton. Since Amorim's been there, there's not yet a sense of teambuilding, or improvement in mindset. He might be a good coach, but is he a good manager?
November 27, 2025 at 11:52 AM
Lots of managers would benefit from more funds. Amorim could help himself by getting more from the players he currently has.

Was Moyes the right man to take over a league-winning team? No.

But that's a different scenario. In the past year, his record is palpably better than Amorim's. And that's before you take into account budgets, attraction of the club, etc.

Because Moyes is a better manager?
November 25, 2025 at 1:55 PM
Possible that Amorim isn't very good, or not right for this league. Buying three £60m strikers gives you a puncher's chance, but can't completely mask rigid, questionable tactics.
November 25, 2025 at 8:56 AM
You only had one of your three £60m forwards on the pitch. How significant was that? I suspect if we could buy one forward of that quality, we'd be higher up the table.

Good goal though.

One of the modern breed of coaches that appear to lack man-management skills. Appallingly naive tactically, and at Rangers he was tone deaf to the needs & wants of club & supporters.

He deserved sacking for appointing Martin. Possibly the most inappropriate selection in a long time...
November 24, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Was that from the League Cup 3-0 in 1976?

I'd take him on loan with an option to buy, to test out his fitness.

If you take a look at our recent records at OT and on Monday nights, you'll feel a lot more confident!

But you never know....

Is that the younger brother of @daraobriain.bsky.social?

Their biggest mistake was not sorting out Guehi earlier in the summer. He'd have been their main centre back & captain for years. Defences win championships. There's isn't good enough right now.
