A historical exposé of good king Wencaslas (who I know nothing about).

We had a noisy sink drain named Heraclitus.

I viewed one with a mysterious dark goo in the basement. Could be.

My preschooler loves "Truck Got Stuck," and "Hurtin Albertan" and "Cows Around."

I love Corb Lund even more now.

These are more rare in my area lf BC, but I'm always happy when I can hear one (and occasionally see one).

Thanks for going into this detail. As a newcomer to Canada, I mostly know of the Notwithstanding Clause as a mysterious constitutional trick that gets wielded as a threat by provinces.

I was scratching my head at that one. Canada has pre-emotive legislators.

It really is much warmer up here in central BC than usual for the time of year. I expect more ducks to stay later than is normal.

I was just thinking of squamulose as not exactly fruticose, but I guess the podetia/cups would be. I come to these as a hobbyist not a biologist, so I struggle with the vocabulary.

But also, I talk to my wife about lichens all the time, so I think we pass the test.
November 17, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Also, I wouldn't really call Cladonia fruticose
November 17, 2025 at 3:45 PM
I found some snails at a lake today too.

Take it from my hands

My wife informed me that Reinhold Neibuhr wrote the Serenity Prayer, and it feels like finding out that George Harrison wrote "Who Let the Dogs Out."

I've appreciated your thoughtful writing and thorough investigative work.

Yeah, there are so many lichens. This was one already described, but I had never sene it. There is probably more coverage for species having alresdy been described where I am because of very active nearby lichenologists.
