Electricity prices are high in Europe due to high sales taxes. Taxes are 22% of residential bills on average, with a high of 49% in Denmark. Amsterdam is trying negative electricity prices to encourage electrification and a shift away from gas heating and appliances.

The Trump admin seems set to force two Colorado coal plants to stay open past their planned closure this year, even as the costs of keeping an aging, unnecessary Michigan coal plant running through the summer top $80M. Are more must-run orders coming?
