It was a fantastic experience for so many reasons; the love the team had for the catalogue of games, revisiting some of my Ultimate Play The Game Favourites, the technical challenges of bringing these games back and the love for presenting them and bringing something new, a true homage

However there was an advantage. I started earning some money & it allowed me to buy more computer gear. I invested in an Amstrad PCW512 with a pair of 3 inch drives. I wrote my own development environment which i really loved & wrote subsequent games with this. Discs easily shared with CPC & ZX

Coding tools were pretty primitive by todays standards but if you didn’t have that comparison then they seemed awesome at the time. On Amstrad CPC i got a fantastic little ROM Cart running the MAXAM text editor and Assembler package. Bought it at a microfair in London it really let me develop

So back to Dawnssley. I wrote a bunch of games in a bedroom and some of them were published including this one. It wasn’t the 1st or last so my stories here won’t be chronological. I was focussed on Amstrad as that’s what i had, plus the colours looked better than on the Spectrum (sorry, but true).

So to kick things off let me start (it’s not really the start but it’s my entry point here) in 1986, the year i left school after my A-Levels. I had already been writing games 4 some time in my bedroom & doing everything myself because i had no friends (in the industry). This is one i did earlier
